Fertilization and weed control

We live in a cool-season climate so applying the right fertilizer is critical for a healthy looking yard.  For those of us who want our lawn looking its best, then it's a good idea to fertilize your lawn 4-5 times a year. Conversely, even if you don't want a good looking lawn, you should at least fertilize twice a year for your grass's sake.  As a rule of thumb, it is best to apply fertilizers when your lawn is actively growing. If you fertilize with nitrogen while your lawn is dormant, you can encourage weed growth, and ultimately waste fertilizer.  Cool-season grasses tend to have two flourishing (or growing) periods. The first is after the lawn's return from winter dormancy. The second is during the early fall, when temperatures moderate and droughts and heat waves typically are gone (after August).

Weed control is included in our applications of fertilizer.  Keep in mind that if your yard is overgrown with weeds such as dandelions, it may take multiple applications to control them.  We offer up to 4 applications for your grass: Spring, early summer, late summer, and fall.  You can choose what schedule fits your needs and remember that a proper watering and mowing schedule along with your fertilization and weed control will help keep your yard looking green throughout the season.  New customers will recieve 20% off their first lawn application.  We will call in advance to let you know we would like to come fertilize the yard.  After each application, we would like you to stay off the grass until it is dry and to not water for 24 hours after the application.  For more questions please feel free to give us a call at 406-439-9527.
